I'm doing a spring clean of my itunes, sorting out all the crappy data limewire gives you on a bunch of tracks, listening through things I haven't listened to in my library methodically. I do this every now and again, as I tend to add new music to my library every week and forget to listen to alot of it before its erased from the 'recently added' playlist, therefore I forget what I've added...
I'm on A still, going through alot of old and new music....
Aerosmith - Young Lust: not sure whether this is a 'best of' compilation album, but if its not it must be their best album as it contains all my favourite aerosmith songs...in other words, all the hits...Love in an Elevator, Walk This Way, Dude (Looks Like a Lady). Had never listened to Aerosmith extensively before today, but I like what I hear as far as background/driving music goes. It's nothing groundbreaking, but I never say no to a bit of classic rock.
Alesana - The Emptiness: If this wasn't such shitty quality, I'm sure I'd be really enjoying it. I think if I were to get into this band, they'd be a guilty pleasure, a bit like the other generic pop-punk I listen to...I'm not sure who came first, these guys or a Day to Remember but someone's been ripped off. Yeah, along the same screamo/hardcore lines as a Day' and Set Your Goals, they're just a bit more heavy than Forever The Sickest Kids, bordering on I Am Ghost levels of gothic undertones...I like that, maybe they do have a bit of originality. With any luck, they'll show up at Reading 2011. This album was released in 2009/10, so there's hope. Might just buy this, I'll put it on the 'buy' playlist :)))
A.F.I. -Very Proud of Ya: For anyone reading, AFI are actually my favourite band, and I already know this album quite well, although its the AFI album I know the least. Its for that reason I thought I'd re-discover this early gem of the punk band's repertoire...The difference in sound between this album (1996) and Crash Love, their latest release (2009) is crazy and really amazes me, because its testament to how incredibly far they've come. From some tiny Ukiah horror punk band, they've become a world class rock band. This isn't a great album, but contains some true AFI classics like 'Perfect Fit' and 'Yurf Rendenmein' and is good background/working music for someone like me - partial to some old school, kind of bratty punk.
