Daft Punk to Premier New Album in Small Australian Town

The French duo has unveiled the latest twist in the launch of their forthcoming album, Random Access Memories - it is to be premiered in the small Australian town of Wee Waa.

The news comes from Australian newspaper The Courier, which reported that Daft Punk is to launch their new album in Wee Waa, a small town in New South Wales, located in the Narrabri Shire.

The launch will take place as part of the 79th annual Wee Waa Show, "Australia's cotton capital", at the Wee Waa showground.

Sony Records called the Narrabri Shire Mayor Conrad Bolton in an attempt to confirm the news and received the reply that Bolton thought “a mate was pulling my leg”.

However, Pitchfork has confirmed the news, as well as website inthemix, which reported that the site domain 'www.daftpunkweewaa.com' has been registered as a domain by Sony Australia.

The duo is not reported to be showing up at the event but the album will be premiered from a purpose built stage.

Random Access Memories will be released by Columbia Records on 12 May.
